My snapdragons have black dots all over the stems and look dried out even though we water them regularly.?

What is causing this problem? And can you please recommend some remedies? Thank you.

Are you sure that the black dots are not the seeds that have released from spent flower pods. Snapdragons only last so long before the flowers "dry" up and the seeds pop out. Sometimes they will stick to the flower stems due to sticky resins that snaps release. The seeds look like little flakes of pepper. When the blooms wilt and look bad, you need to snip off the flower stalk. This will keep it blooming throughout the summer. I think this may be what you are seeing here. Hope this answers your question.

Reply:It sounds like they have a type of fungus. Snip a little portion off and take it to a plant nursery. Then they can give you a free, examination as to what it truely is. They will then be able to tell you what type of plant funguside that they would recommened you to use. Or you could get a common brand at a discount store and try your luck to cure them of the sickness. But I would advise the nursery idea, instead.

I love snapdragons. Have you ever gently squeezed the sides of the flower. It does look like a dragon that opens and closes it's mouth. I enjoy doing this as much as my kids do.
Reply:This is a fungus problem.. Probably brown spot.. take a piece to the local garden center for them to look at it which I cannot do. You will probably need to get fungus killer for brown spot which is usually with the rose care chemicals.
